Grade 4 – Hudson N and Haydyn W
Grade 5 – Mike C and Vienna V
Congratulations to the Grade 5 Volleyball Team that participated in a tournament at Collège Sturgeon Heights on Monday, May 7th, 2018. It was a great display of athleticism!
TRACK & FIELD
On Tuesday, May 22nd, all of the Grade 4 and 5 students participated in the Divisional Track & Field at École Sturgeon Heights Collegiate. Congratulations to all the participants!
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
Jump Rope for Heart Thank-You Prizes have gone home. This year, École Bannatyne raised a whopping $9,578.87! That is the second highest amount that we have ever collected in a singular school year. Did you know that since 2006, the École Bannatyne community has raised approximately $85,000.00? In 2016 and 2018 alone, we raised almost $20,000.00. We are so proud of our wonderful and generous community, that is truly incredible! Thank you, your donations and support are greatly appreciated.
On Friday, June 1st, we were fortunate again to have Cathy Spack who did some fantastic Yoga for Kids activities with our Grade 3-5 students.
In order to prepare students for another season of safe bike riding, École Bannatyne will be hosting a Bicycle Safety Workshop for all the students in Grades 3 through 5 on Monday, June 11th, 2018. In the case of inclement weather, an alternate, but related activity will occur in the gymnasium.
In order to fully benefit from this presentation, it is recommended that students bring their bike and helmet to school to participate in the day’s activities. Students may drop off their bike and helmet in the gym on Monday (June 11) morning between 7:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m., but the bikes must be picked up the same day (June 11) after school between 3:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. If a student has a bike lock, he/she is asked to lock his/her bike up in the bike rack located on the south side of the school. If a student does not have a bike lock, his/her bike will be stored in the gymnasium. Students that do not have a bike or cannot bring their bike will still be able to participate in the day’s activities (e.g. share a bike with another student).
Throughout the remainder of the school year, many Physical Education classes will be held outdoors. Students are expected to bring appropriate indoor and outdoor footwear and clothing to every class. In the gymnasium, students will not be allowed to participate if they are wearing sandals (including Crocs) or dress shoes because these shoes do not provide the proper foot or ankle support necessary to safely be physically active for long periods of time. For outdoor Physical Education classes, it is recommended that students wear hats, bring sunscreen (if necessary), wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring water bottles (if you wish). Thank you for your cooperation!
GYMNASIUM CHANGE ROOMS
Due to health and safety concerns, we ask that students do not bring body spray or spray deodorant (e.g. TAG or AXE), body mist, cologne and/or perfume to school. It is a continued expectation that Grade 3 to 5 students bring a change of clothes, to every lesson, that includes a t-shirt, shorts and/or active wear pants. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
I would like to thank all the parents, guardians, siblings, and grandparents who volunteered their time to the Physical Education program this year. École Bannatyne is very fortunate to have such wonderful, supportive, and dedicated volunteers. Merci!
INTRAMURALS & LEADERSHIP
Lunchtime intramurals are over for the year. Thank you to the members of the Grade 5 Intramural Team! You organized fun activities for your peers and we all greatly appreciate your dedication and hard work.
